    Holmes_colour

12 enchanting 7x5 inch (178x127 mm) photographic prints ready for mounting and framing taken from Sir Arthur Conan Doyles's "The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes" (1892-1893).

These prints feature reproductions of the original illustrations by Sidney Paget from the Strand Magazine presented in a contemporary manner. They are of a very high quality, full of detail and would look superb adorning the walls of anyone's home. Each print shows the name of the story its taken from, and a short quotation from the text. They are unique and cannot be purchased anywhere else.

William Parrott, an Essex farmer's son, was born in 1813. He was apprenticed to John Pye the engraver, who had been taught his craft by Charles Heath, had contributed to Beauties of England and Wales and had gained a considerable reputation for his plates on steel after Turner. However, Parrott soon became a painter and from 1835 exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and the Society of British Artists in Suffolk Street.
